Origin and Creation of the Character
Tzim-Sha, mockingly nicknamed "Tim Shaw" by the Thirteenth Doctor, is an antagonist introduced in The Woman Who Fell to Earth, the first episode of Doctor Who’s eleventh season, aired in 2018. This alien warrior belongs to the Stenza, a warlike species notorious for their brutal customs and ritual hunting competitions.
Designed during Chris Chibnall's era, Tzim-Sha represents an unrelenting menace marking Jodie Whittaker’s debut as the Doctor. His terrifying appearance and ruthless behavior make him a memorable foe.
Character Description
Tzim-Sha is a Stenza, a towering humanoid with a partially tooth-covered face, a tradition of his race to demonstrate their prowess as hunters. He wields advanced technology, including a protective suit and teleportation capabilities, making him a formidable adversary.
In Doctor Who, Tzim-Sha arrives on Earth to participate in a ritual hunt targeting a randomly chosen human. However, his arrogance and disregard for the rules lead him into a direct confrontation with the Doctor and her new companions. Despite his apparent invincibility, he is defeated and teleported away from Earth, only to return later in The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, where he seeks revenge by using his technology to enslave an entire planet.
With his chilling design and central role in the early episodes of the Thirteenth Doctor’s tenure, Tzim-Sha stands out as a formidable antagonist, embodying the brutality and destructive pride of the Stenza in Doctor Who.
