Origin and Creation of the Character
Shrimp Morty is an alternate version of Morty Smith, introduced in the episode Edge of Tomorty: Rick Die Rickpeat from Season 4 of Rick and Morty. This episode explores the multiverse concept, where different versions of Morty and Rick exist, each shaped by their own unique environment.
Created by Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland, Shrimp Morty is a comical and absurd take on the character, illustrating the show’s boundless imagination and the infinite diversity of alternate universes.
Character Description
Shrimp Morty retains his usual personality: naïve, clumsy, and often riddled with self-doubt. However, in this alternate universe, he sports a humanoid shrimp appearance, complete with small claws, a pinkish exoskeleton, and bulbous eyes that accentuate his characteristic look of panic.
Despite his drastically different appearance, Shrimp Morty remains true to himself: unsure, following Shrimp Rick hesitantly, and inevitably getting dragged into disastrous situations. Like all his other versions, he is doomed to endure Rick’s wild and unpredictable experiments, no matter his form.
With his quirky design and humorous presence, Shrimp Morty is a perfect example of the multiverse concept in Rick and Morty, proving that no matter the universe, Morty is always destined for chaos and distress.
