Description

"Fatal Attractions" is a major X-Men crossover written by Fabian Nicieza and Scott Lobdell, published by Marvel Comics in 1993. Spanning the entire line of books, it served to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Marvel's X-Men.

Due to Magneto's actions, Xavier finally decides the time has come to kill Magneto. Xavier and several X-Men attack the villain, and Wolverine almost succeeds in killing Magneto. However, in a shocking twist, the mutant master of magnetism strikes Wolverine, ripping the adamantium from his skeleton. In response, Xavier uses his telepathy to wipe Magneto's mind, erasing everything he has ever been and ever will be.

Xavier and the X-Men (including Wolverine, rescued by Jean) evacuate together to the Blackbird. At the X-Mansion, Wolverine decides to put himself to the test in the Danger Room, blowing up his claws and revealing that they are now made of bone. Thus began Wolverine's years of bone claws, prompting him to leave the X-Men after deciding it was the right thing to do.
