Description

Yu-Gi-Oh! (literally "The King of Games") is written and drawn by Kazuki Takahashi. It was prepublished between September 1996 and March 2004 in Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine, and compiled in a total of thirty-eight volumes by Shūeisha. The French version is published in full by Kana.

The manga features Yûgi Muto, a shy young high-school student and games expert. One day, he receives from his grandfather an object found during an archaeological dig in Egypt: the Millennium puzzle. No one has ever been able to piece together this ancient object before, but young Yûgi manages to put it together. At that moment, the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh, previously locked inside the puzzle, is released to inhabit Yûgi's body. He's a self-confident man who stops at nothing. But few people know the truth.

The Pharaoh is a specialist in all types of game; in fact, he is the master of the game of darkness. For some unknown reason, however, he can't remember his past, or who he is exactly. After successive confrontations with his great rival Seto Kaiba in the monster duel (Magic & Wizard in the manga), he gradually discovers his true identity, that of a pharaoh who lived 3,000 years ago (5,000 years in the anime), and whose spirit was sealed in the Millennium puzzle. The key to his victory over the evil forces of the time when he ruled Egypt is, in fact, his own name.
