Lenny Kravitz, born May 26, 1964 in New York, is an American singer-songwriter, musician, producer and actor.

His compositions blend elements as varied as psychedelic rock, hard rock, rhythm and blues, soul, funk and pop. His many influences include Jimi Hendrix, Funkadelic, John Lennon, Prince, The Jackson 5, The Rolling Stones, Stevie Wonder, James Brown and Led Zeppelin.

As well as singing and providing backing vocals on his recordings, he is a complete musician, playing many of the instruments on his albums himself: guitar, bass, keyboard, drums and percussion.

He won the Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Performance four times between 1999 and 2002. He has sold an estimated 38 million albums worldwide.

An occasional actor, he played Cinna in Hunger Games and its sequel.
