Origin and Creation of the Character

Figaro is a beloved character from Disney’s Pinocchio, released in 1940. Created by Disney’s talented animators, Figaro is originally Geppetto’s pet cat and one of Pinocchio’s companions. With his mischievous temperament and highly expressive features, he quickly became one of Disney’s most iconic pets.

Due to his popularity in Pinocchio, Figaro went on to appear in other Disney productions, notably as Minnie Mouse’s pet cat in several animated shorts.

Character Description

Figaro is a small black-and-white cat, with silky fur, an expressive face, and big, playful eyes. He alternates between moments of pure affection and comical jealousy, particularly towards Cleo, Geppetto’s goldfish. Although sometimes a bit moody, he is deeply loyal to Geppetto and his family.

Throughout Pinocchio, Figaro plays a minor but expressive role, adding humor and emotion to the story. His behavior mirrors that of a real domestic cat, swinging between curiosity, laziness, and endearing sulks.
