Origin and Creation of the Character

Pinocchio is the protagonist of Disney’s second animated feature film, released in 1940, based on The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, first published in 1883. Character Description

Pinocchio is a living wooden puppet, dressed in red overalls, a blue bow tie, and a yellow hat adorned with a feather. His cheerful and innocent appearance contrasts with his naïve nature, making him an easy target for manipulative characters such as Honest John and Gideon, Stromboli, and the Coachman of Pleasure Island.

Accompanied by Jiminy Cricket, his self-appointed conscience, he undergoes numerous trials that expose him to the dangers of lying, temptation, and disobedience. His nose, which grows whenever he tells a lie, has become one of the most recognized symbols in pop culture.

Despite facing many perils, Pinocchio ultimately demonstrates courage, honesty, and selflessness, rescuing Geppetto from the fearsome whale Monstro. As a reward, the Blue Fairy fulfills his wish, transforming him into a real boy.
