Goldorak (Grendizer, the UFO robot) is a Japanese animated series in 74 24-minute episodes, conceived, directed and produced by Toei Animation in 1975 from an original idea by Tōei Dōga and his film Uchū Enban Daisensō.
Sponsored by the Popy company and the Fuji TV channel, and accompanied by a manga by Gō Nagai, then by Gosaku Ōta, the series was broadcast in Japan from October 5, 1975 to February 27, 1977, every Sunday before eight o'clock on the Japanese channel Fuji TV, then replacing the Great Mazinger series.
The series gave rise to a book entitled Roman Album, published by Tokuma Shoten at the end of 1978 in Japan, in which various authors and artists who had taken part in the adventure expressed their views.
