Chameleon – The Master of Disguise and Spider-Man’s First Villain

Chameleon, aka Dmitri Smerdyakov, is one of Spider-Man’s first supervillains, debuting in The Amazing Spider-Man #1 in 1963. A spy and master of disguise, he can impersonate anyone thanks to his natural talent and later, advanced technology. His lack of a true identity and his ability to fool even the greatest heroes make him a formidable adversary.

Connected to Kraven the Hunter as his half-brother, Chameleon has frequently used manipulation and espionage to try and eliminate Spider-Man. Though he lacks physical superpowers, his cunning and intelligence make him an unpredictable and elusive enemy, often at the center of some of Marvel’s most intricate and dangerous plots.
