Description

Item no.: SCP-147

Class: Euclid

Special containment procedures: SCP-147 is to be contained in a 1950s living-room replica. Its current containment chamber contains a rug, two armchairs, a phonograph, a rotary telephone and other suitable decorations. SCP-147 will reject any object dating after March 1965 (see Addendum 0-40). It requires no external connection or power source.

Description: Discovered in 1983 in a civilian dwelling in Detroit, Michigan. SCP-147 resembles a General Electric black-and-white television, model 17TO26. SCP-147 has been observed behaving in two different ways:

Optimal: When SCP-147 is in a suitable room, it will broadcast 1950s comedies such as The Burns and Allen Show, Papa a raison and I love Lucy. Subjects exposed to SCP-147 in its optimal state report a pleasant feeling of relaxation. In this state, volume and channels can be changed, although the on/off button seems to have no effect.

Hostile: When modern objects are present in the environment of SCP-147, the object will only show particularly violent scenes in colour; decapitations, rapes, executions and torture scenes have been observed, but no film that could indicate the place or date of the events shown has been observed. The images are invariably of high audio and visual quality. Subjects exposed to SCP-147 in its hostile state almost always vomited, due to the graphic nature of the broadcasts, after about ten to fifteen seconds; one subject suffered a nervous breakdown after two minutes of exposure. All the subjects showed the same reluctance to remember the content of the broadcasts, and two subjects out of fifteen in charge of
