Dragon Ball Z is a Japanese animated TV series adapted from Akira Toriyama's Dragon Ball franchise and produced by Toei Animation. The series originally aired between April 26, 1989 and January 31, 1996, and follows the first Dragon Ball anime.

Dragon Ball Z takes place five years after the marriage of Son Goku and Chichi, now parents of Son Gohan. Raditz, a mysterious alien warrior who turns out to be Son Goku's brother, arrives on Earth to find Son Goku. Son Goku learns that he comes from a planet of fearsome warriors, of which only four remain, and that he had been sent to Earth to conquer it (a fall as a child caused him to lose his memory).
