The action of these films takes place “in a galaxy far, far away”, where humans cohabit with numerous extraterrestrial species at an indeterminate timec. The plot is based on a confrontation between the Jedi Knights and their rivals, the Sith Lords. Both Jedi knights and Sith lords are sensitive to the Force, a mysterious energy field that gives them psychic powers, including telekinesis. The Jedi master the Light Side of the Force, a beneficial and defensive power, to maintain peace, while the Sith use the Dark Side, a harmful and destructive power, for their own purposes and to dominate the galaxy.
