G.I. Joe Rock'n Roll Armored Star Brigade Pre-owned Figure

G.I. Joe is an army-themed series of articulated plastic figures created in 1964 and produced by Hasbro. The toy line began with G.I. Joe, and two years later Hasbro included members of all branches of the military. The G.I. Joe name no longer refers to a single character, but to the brand name of a line of toys.

Since then, the G.I. Joe line has diversified to include several licenses (including Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat), and comic book adaptations were published by Marvel Comics from 1982 to 1994, then by Devil's Due Publishing and IDW Publishing from 2001.

G.I. Joe action figures, like Big Jim, their counterparts created by competitor Mattel, were the first articulated action figures for boys. Today, the term "action figure" is borrowed directly from the English language, the term "doll" having been banished from the vocabulary of Hasbro employees for marketing reasons - "boys don't play with dolls".
