Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is Disney Studios' first animated feature and "animated classic". Released on December 21, 1937, it is adapted from the eponymous tale by the Brothers Grimm, published in 1812 and strongly rooted in European traditions.

Contrary to popular belief, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was not the first feature-length animated film in cinema history, but it eclipsed its predecessors in terms of the impact it had on audiences both in the U.S. and internationally, thanks to the work of the many artists at Disney Studios. Considered by many to be a masterpiece, the film also marked a milestone in animation and even the seventh art through the technical and artistic innovations developed and used for this film. The production budget of $1.48 million was a record for the time. The investment made by the company founded by Walt Disney was amply repaid by the revenues generated on release and still today, making the film an undeniable success.
