Stranger Things was created by brothers Matt and Ross Duffer and has been airing on Netflix since July 15, 2016. As of 2022, it has four seasons and thirty-four episodes. A fifth and final season was announced on February 17, 2022, and is scheduled for 2024.

The mood of the series is strongly inspired by the fantasy, science fiction and horror films of the 1980s, drawing influences from the works of H. P. Lovecraft, Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, John Hughes and Stephen King.
