The Happy Meal is a children's menu sold by the McDonald's fast-food chain since June 1979.

The Happy Meal usually comes in a fancy cardboard box or paper bag, and is most often accompanied by a limited-edition themed toy.

The first Happy Meal appeared in 1979, with a Circus Wagon Happy Meal theme consisting of a simple hamburger or cheeseburger, fries, cookie and drink. At the time, it cost one US dollar and contained several small accessories for children (pencils, eraser, etc.).
